Created for More
Inspired by the sacrifice and service of those before us, we built The Descendants to give back to the people and history that shaped our country.
Coffee Has Been Part of This Family for Years
Coffee has already been part of our family’s life for years. We have learned the business from the ground up, sourcing green coffee, roasting, building relationships with farmers and putting coffee into the hands of customers. When we came to North Carolina, we wanted to build something of our own here. Not simply just another coffee brand, but a company that reflected what matters to us: family, hard work, faith, quality and appreciation for what has been handed down to us.
That became The Descendants Coffee Company.
But The Descendants was never meant to be only about selling coffee. A portion of our proceeds supports organizations working to preserve American history and organizations serving those who have served our country.
We named our coffee company The Descendants in honor of the generations before us.
Now we’re building something that we can pass on to the generations after us.
From a Family Record to a Roasting Drum
This company began with a piece of paper. On July 5, 2025 the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution admitted a member of our family on the strength of one documented line: descent from Thomas Buxton, a Patriot of the Revolutionary War.
Thomas was born around 1745 and died before 1827. He served as a Private in the Montgomery County Maryland Militia, under Captains Charles G. Griffith, Amon Riggs and Brock Mockbee, in Colonel Archibald Orme's Middle Battalion. A farmer, not a soldier by trade, he left his home and family to stand with his neighbors when the call came. DAR lists him as Patriot Ancestor A205117, a number anyone can look up.

Three Commitments
Direct Trade
Green coffee bought through relationships we can name, so the person who grew it is a person rather than a lot number on a brokersheet.
Roasted to Order
Roasted in small batches in North Carolina, so a bag leaves the drum days before it reaches you rather than months.
Given Back
The name is about descendants, not founders. What this business gives back is being built now, and it will be named here when it is.
Taste What the Story Built
Three blends, one price, and a name that points at the people who stood before there was a nation to stand for.
